Friend has a serious nylon burn right up her neck and was almost strangled due to horse grabbing toggle and pulling and not letting go!! toggle was on a nylon string which was on hood actually wrapped round friends neck with horse unwiling to let go..he has always targetted toggles..and friend has never seen it as a issue till tonight...so please guys be aware.I know my friends horse is not the only one that likes them!! my old pony was a nightmare with hunter buckles just had to have em!:D

Most equestrian clothing is, sadly, for fashion, not function, all these silly flaps and toggles are just asking for trouble....

Sister used to have a mare that was devil for nicking toggles, my current mare will pull pocket flaps and any other 'flappy' bits of coats. Fortunately never had an incident like the one the OP is about, but I shall take extra care.

At my last yard Frankie and his friend next door used to love playing tug of war with things. One time it was a toggle each on my jacket hood. They were on stretchy cord and I was being pulled in 2 directions.

I am generally careful as I am always worried that the string will snap and the toggle will get swallowed.
