keep taking the puppy into the garden ie 20 times a day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! esp 15 to 20 mins after feeding" 7 weeks old is vey young to be away from mum, hope you got it on 4 plus feeds a day!

yes she is on 4 + feeds and has also been checked over by the vet.

mothers first litter mother wasn't doing to good so on advice from the vet.

it but bitty cold with the deep snow.

Equate her to a newborn baby not having a clue what is right or wrong. As OCYC says, very young, give it time.
Watch her, keep her routine the same and watch HER routine, you will soon come to recognise her habits, circling, squatting, lift and praise when she goes where you want her to.

yeah me and her have bonded very very well and i know when she is going to go but summertime's not and she always gets lots of praise.

she is coming on very well and yes she my be young but as the vet says there is noting coming over her im not expecting to much from her as i know she is very young yet. Very spoiled little puppy so she is.

She is so so good and happy

I would try to take her out and teach her that toilet is in the garden rather than the puppy-pads (once they learn about the puppy-pads, they then have to unlearn it to learn to go out), however this is easier said than done in this weather! Ignore the 'mistakes', try to clean them thoroughly so there is no smell and reward her for going to the toilet in the correct place. The best way to get it right is to anticipate all the time and carry her outside (or puppy-pad if you want) when she wakes up, after she has eaten, after she has played, etc.

I've always picked up my puppies 6-8 weeks, it's the best time for socialisation with humans.

If she is using the pad most of the time it is a good start, but agree with others about trying to get her outside as much as possible, though know it will be very difficult in this cold weather (toilet training in winter is a nightmare, I so prefer summer pups

). As CC says you will soon start recognising the signals and will be able to scoop her up and take her outside/to the pad before any accidents. I would always recommend carrying them rather than calling them when they are this young, saves accidents en route to the designated place.

We're not having any problems convincing Harvey to go outside. He has never used training pads though.

I just pick him up, carrying him outside every hour or so. He is clean in the house over 90% of the time using this method. We just have the odd wee.

Very pleased with him. He must've cottoned on to the idea of what going outside is for now. Once he's finished he now runs back to the step ready to go back in the house with me.

Definately ditch the pads and (as others have said) watch very closely for signs of circling squatting then straight outside. Use a word to "cue" peeing as she pees and use it consitently every time. Take her outside every time she wakes up or eats and wait for the action. Everytime she pees outside then make a big fuss of her. They very quickly associate a cue word, and peeing outside with lots of fuss and praise and will then pee on command if you get the timing right - timing is all

Mine is crated overnight too, for 6 hours. He has never once soiled or wee'd in the crate (so far).

He is desperate to go though. I come downstairs, pop my coat on, get him out of the crate and head straight outsides with him. He always wees and poops instantly. Bless him.
