toilet training

Thought we'd finally cracked the toilet training this morning!

Dandy was sitting at the patio doors watching the garden and sunbathing. He started to whine a bit so I jumped up to let him out thinking "atlast !!!! he's got it!! thank god".

He ran down the garden, picked up an empty flower pot that was rocking in the breeze, belted back indoors, ran through to the kitchen.....and pee'd on the floor. Doh.

Took Beastie quite a while to pick up toilet training but eventually she did get there!

My OH's family bought a JRT 4weeks ago and it is yet to go to the toilet outside at all!

we seem to have good days and awful days. I suspect today is going to be an awful day.Yesterday I left him out of his crate whilst I went shopping for the first time. I expected a horrendous mess when I got back but there wasn't one puddle, nothin ghad been chewed and he and the cats were all in one piece, so was really pleased.

I was just going to put a post on about toilet training - our dog - she is 3 and has lived in a kennel all her live. She keeps peeing in the living room! It's like she can't cope with being inside - like she is marking her territory! I don't know what to do! She loves being in the back of my freelander - she will stay there all day and not pee once so i guess she feels secure in there. The OH is not happy and i don't know what to do! Any ideas?

My JRT is absloute fanastic toilet trained!!! he is nearly 6 months old, he already knows where to go.

Helenpuddingella:- she may feel unsecured? perhaps put her in crate so she knows it's her safe haven?? My JRT loves his crate, like her he would stay in my car ages and not do a mess.
perhaps you'll need to re toilet train her like as you would do with puppy.

The best thing to do is to go outside with them (standing that is, not going to the loo with them lol) and stay there until they've been then let them in.

Funny you should say that! Dandy asked to go out yesterday and came back with a peg having not had a wee. I went to the loo and he followed me and wee'd in the bathroom. I said there was no way I was going to wee in the garden just to give him the message!!

LOL, Jimmy cocked his leg up the toilet a few weeks back - no I wasn't on it!!! - Mum wasn't amused but I did tell her he was aiming to be "toilet" trained
