Tonight’s quandary

What do you have? I'd love cameras in the field as altough mie are right by the house there are no windows over looking the one field and a grainstore/stables block the view of the other. Are they wired/rechargable?

I have these two, they're solar powered and use 4G and cheaper than the reolinks. I've not needed to manually charge them as the solar panel has done enough:

These look great, I might have to invest myself!

The precious butterflies are back out fluttering freely. Unfortunately the most demanding of the gang had me on colic watch last night, so I had a very restless night.

I think the problem was entirely in my head 🙃

🤦🏻‍♀️

They are highly addictive! I’m always checking mine!

I've only just relented to put a rug on my poor beastie 😅
Me too. So many horses on the yard rugged and my Arab only just got a rug on the other night.
The amount of warnings I got that I'm so used to natives that are hardy that I'm going to HAVE to rug my Arab. Jeez. I have rugs, if they need them, they get them but I look at the horse not the breed. (Arab is in 50g, Highland is in 100g).

When I first bought my mare, she was on DIY livery and I lodged with the YO. The very first real storm we had, I just had to go and check on her. Cue me slipping on my wellies and waterproofs over my pajamas at 2.00am and going out to check on her. She was grazing, unbothered by the rain, thunder and lightning and I'd just got out of a nice warm bed for nothing. Now, I leave them to it.

I also factor in if the aggravation of mucking out is worth it for bringing them in, when they'll probably be completely fine anyway.
I did similar. Stormy night, I went out with a head torch and found her happily grazing ignoring the weather.
A year later it was driving wind and rain and I dragged 2 rugs up the field at 7am in the pitch dark to find both my ponies happily grazing as I walked back down the 3 minutes to the barn, grumbling about ungrateful ponies 🤣. I had just come off a 13 hour nightshift as well.

Now I have 3 Xega cameras up so I can see around most of my 3 acres and what a relief it is to be able to quickly check and see they are all happy nomming hay (or I curse as I see them pulling a fence down and have to drive 15 minutes to go sort them).
I wake up, check the ponies and before bed I check the ponies all without having to move from my cosy house.
