On a unclipped shire x, eight degrees, heavy rain and windy put on a.....

Lightweight turnout (no fill)

100g turnout

I can't decide xx

with fill imo its cold!

my fluffy warmblood x is in a 140 g with neck and a stable rug!....

she was clipped (and being clipped again thurs) but shes cold with any less on!

she also has a vest!!

god help her in jan...

I'd rug, the wind and rain is a horrible combination and it's feeling a lot colder than the actual temp as well

My fully clipped mare is in a 100g combo with a mw standard neck over that during the day (sometimes a hw but that's only when she's too cold for my liking) and a hw stable rug instead of the mw at night, she was only clipped less than a week ago so very sensitive atm and is feeling the cold!

I'd go for the 100g as the wind makes things seam chillier IMHO , the irish is in a 70g with neck and he's toasty ( with blanket clip too ) i think the temps are still quite mild but that heavy rain is a b***h when it gets going!

:eek: my WB is in a 300g - he has a blanket clip which needs re doing as its almost grown out!

My clipped ones have been in 350gms heavyweights for a few weeks now. Sunday night when it went down to 3 degrees, their under fleeces went on.
The unclipped ones were in lightweights and on Sunday these were changed to mediumweights.

One with the fill.

My TB's in 2 full neck heavyweight TO's with an under fleece at the moment!

My coblet however, may have a stable fleece on just for an 'accessory' in the stable, but other than that, has nothing. But he is an insulated yak!

Send him out unrugged, our x trotter is unrugged while the 18yr old TB is in a LW neither are clipped and we live on the moors so are very exposed, they can come in if they need to but haven't as yet, although things might change when we have hard frost tomorrow.

I am on the Scottish Borders. My imported Dutch Warmblood who hasn't had winter turnout in 4 years was living out until a week ago in a 200g full neck(neck is only to keep her clean!). Fat, warm and happy :D She is in at night now mind. In the same rug.

Mine are in at night and stable rugs are on.
Theyre out through the day in med weights as its been peeing down and blowing a gale most days, the last couple of days the temperatures started to drop here
