He's my vet so can only tell you from that point of view - very direct and to the point and tells people exactly what he sees regardless of whether it may offend!!!Have seen him ride at a few be events and seems to get a good tune out of most horses and does really understand the movement of animals if that makes sense! He works out of a vet practice in paddock wood and I believe he lives in the tonbridge area.
My vet too, agree with the comments above. Other comments are that where he is very popular he can be hard to get hold of and then be in a bit of a rush when he deals with you.
If you have to take a horse to the practice for xrays etc he will usually end up making you wait from 30 minutes to an hour when you get there despite pre-agreeing a time.
If you book an appointment with him he will make you call at 8.30 am the morning in question to confirm what time he will be with you.
Often the receptionists, for what ever reason, can't book an appointment in his diary so will give you his mobile number to call direct yourself.
I must admit I find the whole organising an appointment with him a bit of a pain in the backside. However, he is free with his mobile number and if you are in a total panic about something you can generally get hold of him to discuss whatever it is straight away.
Tony Warr is my vet and he is a real horseman. i like it because he rides at such a high levle and so understands competition horses well.
i dont know if anyone else has had this problem but as he has recently set up on his own (in a mobile clinic) i had trouble finding his new mobile as his old practice wouldnt give out his new number.
No use at all but can I say I love his partnership with C Merger, it's always a highlight for me to watch them.
Lucky you that have him as a vet, he must be great to work with if he's as honest as that; I personally like the warts and all approach though understand that some can find it upsetting if they only want good news. Hope he does well with his new practice.
Just got into work after having Tony scan my horse this morning!
As has been said above, he's now set up on his own and isn't with Putlands anymore.
I really rate him. He's easy to get along with and will tell you everything straight and to the point. My horse had quite a bad tendon injury this time last year, which she re-did in January hooning around the field and he has been brilliant the whole time giving me step by step plans for everything. Thankfully she's well on the mend and we have just started x poles again with the plan to event again in the spring.
You can ring him anytime and he will help you no matter what. He's treated my horse like his own and I couldn't recommend him high enough.
If anyone is interested you can get hold of him at Wealden Equine - www.wealdenequine.co.uk... 07503053053...
He has been our vet for years & even managed to solve a limited movement issue on a new horse which no one else could resolve by getting on & actually riding him to work out exactly what was wrong!
