Just wondered if anyone out there rides a 13.2 pony? my lil sis is thinking of getting her first pony but she is 5ft3 does anyone think she would be too big for it? she is quite a novice and da pony would mainly be used for hacking walk and trot etc so she dosnt need anything too forward. she weighs only about 7st so weight i dont think would be an issue. Just wondered what height everyone was that rides a 13.2. Thanks

I'm 5ft4 and ride a chunky 13.3, he takes up my leg really well and nobody has ever said I look big on him. I'm sure she'd be absolutely fine unless it's extremely lightly built - but then at 7st she should still be fine, just look a little long in the leg.

I am 5'3 and until she retired rode a 13.2 and a half. I was too long in the leg but she was a fab pony and we had years of fun riding. I have bought bigger since at 14.1 and 14.3 and they suit me fine. If you have a choice I would go for taller than 13.2 for your sister

If she is after something just for hacking etc then I don't see there being any problem specialy with her only weighing 7 stone. I am 5ft7 & my smallest is 13.3, but he is very chunky & I bought him of a bloke who rode him western.

This is him with his old owner

i like this! winner!:D

this is how every one should be, but obviously not putting pony at risk, Mine should reach 14.1 and i have short stumpy legs which make me 5ft 3 have riden 13hh ponies and still look like their too big for me (its a pain!) but as long as its a cob that can hold her weight with out risking putting the ponys back at jepordy i dont see a problem with it

Depends on ponys build, my tall 7 year old looks fine on a 13.2 sec b but her feet are barely past the saddle flaps on the equivalent sec d or highland.

Has your sister stopped growing? If she hasn't then she might out grow it fairly quickly, just a thought :)

People often ask me when i'm going to get a real horse. as i'm to old and to big for ponies  But to be honest I don't care what they think. I love my ponies and I think Herbie loves me ;) Ponies are so much more fun than horses and way naughtyer :p Ponies are the best :D Nomatter what anyone says :D

Oh dear sorry can you tell how much I love ponies  ;) :p :D :D

I am 5'3 and I own a little 13hh cob :)
I look too tall on him really, but he can carry me perfectly fine.

Ideally, I'd have a pony around 14.2, but it depends on what she feels comfortable with :)

I have in the past had a 13.2hh NF whom I completed on in Endurance. I am 5ft 4in and about 10 st. The pony did the 160k class at the Golden Horse Shoe as well as a number of Race Rides.

This is my boy during an Endurance ride

This is my Arab mare she is 14hh and again has done the 160k GHS. She is now 22 yrs old and is continueing to compete. The picture was taken at last years Arab Marathon, where 2 years ago she won the veteran class in under 2 hours.
