hiya, had my pony for four (nearly five years now) and have become paranoid that im too big (a lady we knowsaid im gettting taller and taller on him)! im probably about 5ft4/5 or somthing and about 9.5 stone. hes 13.3hh/14hh connemara cross. i think its the fact that hes got such a short body that i look tall??i dunno?? im sad right now......
heres a few pics...they dont really show what i mean but its mainly in videos...so will probably post some clearer ones when i can

I think you look fine, he's a lovely looking pony too! people seem to feel the need to have big horses just because and i think thats stupid.

You look absolutely fine, I would say don't hitch your stirrups up shorter to make your legs feel less long tho, imo you start to ride incorrectly. I can tell you, you are fine until i am blue in the face, it's how you feel X

Yes you are getting a little tall on him but he is well able to carry you and will probably always be able to, unless you get really fat:D:D

If you are enjoying what you do with him and dont have aspirations to go to Badminton because he may find that beyond him:D
Keep having fun and there is no need to think of moving on to something bigger.

Your fine :) Tell them you are quite happy on your pony (I agree who needs a horse when I have a perfectly fine pony :D) smile and then go beat them :D.

Don't be bullied into selling your lovely pony just because someone thinks you should move on to a horse.

I think your pony could happily carry you for ever! You're lovely and slim.

Keep him and enjoy him :)

I think you are.getting too tall. In that last pick in order for.your feet not to drop too low past the belly the long legs have forced onto the back of the saddle rather than in the middle. I don't think your too heavy but height wise I think your at the max. Sorry if that's not what you were hoping to hear.

There is no way you are too big for him, some people who ask on here are a bit marginal but you are very well suited, carry on having fun.

Paranoid. I'm 5'9" with really long legs (short body, 'tho) and ride a 14.2hh. I'm not telling you what I weigh, but it's a lot more than you.

Just to add to my previous post, I don't think you're right at the max height-wise either. I'm 5'10 & my full up 14.2 managed to do pretty well round foxhunter courses with me. My legs are way past her tum, so I use my calves not heels & swan neck spurs when I needed precise aids. Like me, you're light so don't worry. Check out the top mounted games teams, most of those are way too tall aesthetically but it doesn't seem to be an issue for them.

I'm 5'8, a lot heavier than you and I expect my 14,1 to lug me around xc courses, decent height sj (not by littlelegs standards though :p), allow me to hang off him to play horseball and everything else...

At dr length, my heels are below his sides too (not the best photo to illustrate it but...) and we don't find it a problem :D

Definitely paranoid. I'm 5'8" and weigh more than you and my pony is a 13.2hh Fell. Yes my legs are a bit long but my new dressage trainer hasn't even mentioned it (after I prepped her considerably that we were not a "usual" dressage combination - I think she was expecting a giant on a shetland, she also came out with my new catchphrase after I apologised for about the zillionth time that we weren't leggy and elegant that "it doesn't matter it's about the training!"). I am a litle bit in love with my new dressage instructor.

I used to ride a 13.3hh welshy and I was 5ft 4 and and at the time I was the same weight as you I rode him from 1984 and bought him in 1985 and rode him until 1989. Your fine on your pony.Enjoy him and have fun!!!!

You've got a cracking pony (or a horse with short legs!) why would you want to change him? He's the sort that would carry you for ever and I don't think you are going to get much taller are you? I bet the person who said you were getting too tall will be first in the queue to buy him!

I took over riding my son's pony and I never had so much fun - and when you do part company, you're not wandering around the countryside looking for something to use as a mounting block.
