Too fat or ok?

I have no idea about weight - did you get placed? :)
Lovely photos :D

Only second. She was a complete witch all day. These photos make her look like butter wouldn't melt but as we all know, photos are only a snapshot in time! OH did a video of her as well but I don't know how to reduce the size properly so I can post it - that shows her true behaviour, naughty pony! It was only her second time out - first time was last September. :)

Tiny bit cresty but I'd say ok as long as he's kept like that. Beautiful horse :)

Did you get a nasty comment from someone?

Oh no not at all! I ask the other liveries on the yard what they think and they all say that she's fine, as friends do! But I am totally paranoid about laminitis having read the horror stories on here. I've never had a native type before - only TBs, so keeping weight off is all new to me. She goes out at night in the main field which is rich, but has a muzzle on,and has only managed to get it off once, and during the day she is either in the fatty patch, which is bare, or inside on crap hay! :)

Stunning horse. But yes, I would say she was about 50 kg overweight.

You see that's what I tend to think. Had the vet out last week for her annual vaccination and he said that she was perfect as she was but not to let her get any bigger, but like you, I think she's a bit on the fat side! And this is a vet that usually likes them lean!

Top end of ok, you havent got a crest, of wobbly belly (unlike me) but you are loosing definition of muscles, so no more!

I agree.

If I had my time over again with my mare I would have had her far leaner than I did over the years. Like your girl, she wasn't what you would call fat, but she looked 'well'. I am sure that she had low grade laminitis attacks that went un recognised, just manifesting themselves as occasionally not being so off the leg, etc. Nothing like you would associate with proper laminitis. Hindsight is a wonderful thing.

She looks lovely but is a bit fat and in what used to be called show condition. rather strange way of trying to see if it is too much is to run your hand down her neck if it hits the shoulder bone she is about right if it flows straight over she is too fat This gives definition to the frame of your horse so works with all types and frame sizes

It is - my last TB was always "footsore" and was terrible when he lost a shoe. His feet were awful. I assumed that it was because he was a TB. I now realise, after reading everything on here and other places that it wasn't because he had TB feet, it was probably because he was suffering from sugar and starch overload and probably LGL. If I had my time over, how differently I would manage him!

Anyway, pony in the photo was backed late last year but hasn't done anything for a few months as she has been given time to grow up. However after today's antics, it's time to start work again with her so hopefully the exercise regime will help get rid of some weight and get some muscle definition! :)

A thousand times this.

I reckon my vet would say she was fat. As would I.

Nice looking beast and very smartly turned out though.

She's lovely but as others have said, I'd want her a bit leaner!

What's her breeding?

She's got similar markings to my mare :D
