Seeing all theses threads about what to wear , should we ride etc. I just want to confess its too hot & I'm too lazy to ride. Just wondered if I'm the only bad /lazy owner on the forum or does anyone else want to confess. I'm not complaining about the weather it's fab :D

I'm lazy too lol
I love the sun but its far to hot to ride especially after reading an article about how horses overheat much quicker than we do ;-)

I'm not riding in this heat. I would go out early am but the horses are out at night and they are flat out as soon as they get in the nice cool stables, i can't do it to them. So I'm letting them snore all day instead!

Due to my lack of confidence I'm not riding at all, but even if I was brave I would choose not to. I don't think it's fair on them (in nit stirring trouble) it's just the way I feel. He is a different character in heat anyway, lazy hot and bothered, like me!

I'm still on 'box rest' so no riding for me! I would though - just early or late as mine is a fatso who needs the work.

I'll ride if I can muster up the energy to tack the horse up and actually get on...but if I ride one I certainly wont ride the second!! :o

Oh screw tacking up! I keep a bridle and hat next to his stable in the field, grab pony, bridle on, jump on off nearby object...!

Rinse and repeat with subsequent rides ;)

We've been trying to ride early/late. On Sunday daughter was riding someone else's pony in a show, so didn't get to ours til the afternoon, and she was so hot after wearing full show gear all morning she just wanted to go into the pool instead. She did have a little bareback pootle on our little A later on - don't even need to bother with a bridle for her - headcollar and reins is enough. The ponies were happy to come in from the field and snooze in the cool of their stables for a couple of hours.

Hacked out through the (shady) woods this morning at 7 with the dogs - can't school in this heat, it's like the Sahara desert in there - and the horseflies are VERY hungry......

I'm still riding. Ruby is on a fitness plan, she was hacked 4 times and jumped twice last week, she had yesterday off. Today we are hacking out about 6ish, want to do some canter work with her.

It is a struggle to tack up though :o but once on i'm fine.

Having just finished my own box rest it is quite annoying not riding in this heat. But it is very hot - had my bikini on until 9 last night - in Northumberland! So not going to bring the mare back into work in this weather, she's 18 and it doesn't seem fair. I haven't the motivation to ride before work sadly.

I always think that when my horse costs me £12 a day to keep and you never know what's round the corner with regards to how long you can keep them sound for, or even how long they will be alive for in most cases - then every day you ride is a good day :)

I awlays end up feeling incredibly guilty if I don't ride.
