Is there such a thing as too many supplements? Can they do any harm or just wasting money.

I know of a pony that has, a feed balancer, seaweed, limestone, copper, pro cell, restore.

Just curious really.

just a waste of money I think, not sure of the health cons...but pretty sure its mixing vit and min so will be useless anyway...correct me if I am wrong but a normal healthy horse on a fibre diet such as my own horse has a good quality chaff ie alfa a mollasses free and equilibra balancer - the balancer contains all the vits n minerals needed..but I would feed a joint supplement with that if and when necassary

You can definitely waste lots of money by giving too many supplements. We are like Always Blue and feed ours a balancer (in our case Top Spec Anti Lam) to make sure they get all the vitamins and minerals.

you should not need to feed any balancers, its cheaper to use a multivit, limestone is only needed for young or older horses (or on a bran based diet) - restore should be given as a 'course' treatment and is recommended for a maximum of 3 weeks

pro cell (pro-pell) is used for horses who are under the weather to encourage blood cells, and used as a treatment not as a permenant supplement (infact it is a treatment not a supplement)

mine get brewers yeast, seaweed, and a multivit

i think people get crazy... mot basic feeds have any necesary aditives in them... my old boy used to have tyeguard, obviously he had azotoria and it just kept it under sontrol but my tb not had some equine america hoof stuff out of sheer despair but it makes a difference as since he came off it he has been lame for 2 weeks : ( wouldnt add more though! x
