Got a saddle on trial from my saddler who is highly thought of. He is selling on behalf of client.
Saddle looks promosing option so far for my youngster (he's 6). So wanted to do some research on saddle.......
Found out (via serial number at manufacturer) that the saddle is 9 years old. March 2004 it was made.
Its a Black Country Vinici monoflap dressage. They RRP £1950. Tree is only guaranteed for 10 years and it has serge lining so worried that at £750. This is a bit steep for a saddle of this age. The leather is quite worn.
Seen ones at 3-5 years old advertised for £700-£800 (not the size I wanted unfortunately).
Not sure how long a serge lining will last and as horse only 6 don't want to spend that sort of money and have to change again in a couple of years if saddle wears out.
My boy is quite wide with large rib cage and big shoulders so quite tricky to fit as I'm finding out!!!!
Any views on fair price? I'm considering making an offer if I decide I want it.
