One of my horses has liver disease, and has odemas on her tummy

She is on legamyton (2 days now). We have cut allot of things out her feed ( soya oil etc.) She does have a Himalayan salt lick , and she licks this allot. Should I take it out to reduce it ?

Also she has vege oil I was thinking of stopping this too

If she has liver disease you need to stop the oil immediately. Diet for damaged livers is:

low protein
what protein you do feed (all animals need some) should be highest quality
milk thistle
Yea Sac
vits and mins such as Baileys Lo Cal
feed broken down into as many small feeds as possible
no oils or conditioning feeds EVER

A damaged liver struggles to break down protein and it cannot cope with oils at all. Milk thistle supports the liver and Yea Sac aids hind gut digestion, often compromised in liver damaged horses. Feeding in many small feeds supports the liver too and means it doesn't have to deal with one huge hit. Finally, stable liver damaged horses during the day in summer as they suffer from acute photosensivity. I'm surprisded your vet hasn't gone through all of this with you. PM me if you need any more advice x

she has gone through most
told me to stop the soyal oil and alfa a lite
and she told me about the sun burn
the legapython has milk thistle in it .Its what the practice use all the time

her meals is small and decided. its just she loves that lick and i see her licking it allot

The general rule with salt is that they will only take what they need. You might want to check with the vet but as long as she has access to plenty of fresh water then it should be fine. I have a cushings pony who goes through salt like it was going out of fashion and he is fine with it.
