I DID IT, I RODE MY HORSE TODAY.

For anyone who asked me to keep them updated I rode my horse today.

Ive been spending alot of time with them grooming, lunging ect ect and went ahead and bought myself a Bates Innove (extended blocks) saddle.

The saddle is so beautiful I just had to get on and try it.

I tacked him up this morning and was shaking like a leaf and i kept telling myself imagine hes a small pony not the 18hh that he is.

Every one was watching me so i plucked up the courage to admit I was very nervous, everyone seemed to understand and a girl came down the arena with me.

In all honesty my ego got the better of me, how could i let this young girl see me shaking and crying, so I just led him to the mounting block, prayed to a higher authority and got on him.

He just stood there not a movement, of course my stirrups were too damned short so i had to mess about with them whilst i tried to contain my impusle to throw up.

We walked around the arena, God that saddle is fantastic, legs in the correct position and it made me feel so secure.

I soon forgot how nervous i was and actually started to enjoy it, we only walked but I felt great.

I cannot explain how good i feel at the moment, I know it probably wont be all plain sailing it never is with horses but at least i got on him and thats after 9 months of pure hell.

THANK YOU to all of you who offered support and the use of their horses, if it wasnt for you i wouldnt of done what i did today, just admitting my problems is helping me to get over them.

Im not ready for anything serious yet, one small step at a time, but i am more positive about it.

And to anyone thinking of getting a Bates Innova, DO IT, THEY ARE FANTASTIC, its given me that extra boost which i obviously needed, worth every penny just to get on my horse again.

I will update when I next do something exciting, like a trot!!!!!!!!!!

I am very very pleased for you. Now you are back in the saddle and enjoying it, you will increase your confidence. Super news.

It doenst matter if you want to just walk for a month, at least your on board!! Very please for you x

That's really good news. Just keep daring yourself that little bit more each day but not until you are ready. Just a couple of strides of trot, then back to walk. You must feel so happy today.

Oh I am thrilled, I really am!

The only problem is now I have to do this damned test I said I would to myself if you rode. Now I have to follow your example and just do it.

So a well done and also a thankyou for getting me to face my demons too!

Well done you.
You should be so proud of yourself. Don't feel you have to rush things though you can walk for as long as you want just let it happen and before you know it you'll wonder what all the fuss was about. Keep up the good work and deffo keep us updated. It's good to read posts about peoples sucesses.

Well done! I know EXACTLY how you feel. I have had Harvey 3 months now and have still only walked and trotted. I have never experienced in my life the fear I feel now and will make any excuse not to ride. But Harvey is wonderful and I feel I have all the time in the world to get my confidence back. Like the sound of your saddle - I just have a basic Wintec as Harvey is still growing, but I don't feel secure in it at all. Just off to check my savings account.....

Well done!!! So pleased for you!

I know what it is like to be scared!
Being in a saddle that makes you feel secure is a big confidence boost, I find my saddle really helps when neddie does one of his spooks, having nice big knee rolls to keep you in place.

You've done really well to get so far so quickly, you should be proud. Like others have said though, don't rush it now and just do what you feel comfortable with. Keep us updated!

Well done you!

It's onwards and upwards all the way from here - just don't let anyone pressurise you into doing something you're not ready for. Take it at your own speed - and only when YOU want to do it.

Really pleased for you.

thats fantastic! well done. and the best thing is, you enjoyed it! must be the weather for promoting confidence. i took my boy onto the hill yesterday to a place where he always looses his head. he was a prat, but i did it, and even enjoyed the bouncing and galloping. he stopped, which is the main thing and now i'm ready to do it again. small steps....

I've not commented on previous posts but have been following, so a big WELL DONE!! I'm sure it will be onwards and upwards from now
