It's a better smell than some I have come across whilst shopping

Disgraceful!!!
Maybe we should all boycott Tescos or even better all turn up at Tescos same time same day different branches and see the response. All in our smelliest fleeces and muckers ect!!!

I've added my comment about Tescos being hypocritical as they sell horse stuff in the larger stores.

Funnily enough Waitrose IS the only supermarket (go there for treats only just after payday

) I will go in in my riding stuff. I get funny looks if I do that in Morrisons and Asda in the chavvy area I live.

This made me laugh, there was times when i used to leave the yard and pop into shops smelling like a bucket of horse pee.

Sometimes after the yard on a friday night i would go into the pub and my other half used to say to me to go home & get changed, never would but i knew i smelt like a poll cat.

He he

Some years ago ( it was a hot Summer so must have been a while ago ! ) , a branch of Tesco asked a female shopper to leave as she was wearing a bikini & said it was unhygienic

Personally , I find B.O a bit grim , but to chuck out customers for smelling of anything that some might find yukky is completely daft . I stink of cigarettes , but my husband does the shopping ( He's well trained & usually goes to Waitrose

)

When hacking jackets were fashionable in the 1970's , I used to wear mine to school ( complete with horsy smell ) . A few boys said it was a bit smelly but they got used to it

What ever Next ???
They are supposed to be interested in our money not what we are wearing when we spend it !!!!

yeah I've had some looks too SO what at least its an honest smell. better than the stinking of BO or the smell of grass (not the horsey stuff !!) that some folks have been smoking.

Next thing ASDA will be throwing people out for being too pikey! Oh wait, there wouldn't be anyone left in their stores if they did that...

They should queue in our local Co-op, we have a whole load of stinkers here!
There is the cat lady who living with 60 plus cats stinks of cat urine.
Then the slightly backward middle aged chap who smells of stale wee.
Don't start me on the numerous farmers (often female) who come in wearing cow muck covered boots, they smell really ripe!
Me? well if I have been feeding haylage I smell quite strongly of sick, but I tend to apologise to anyone near me in the queue!
We live in the country and it's totally normal to see people shopping in wellies/jods/boots, I think Tesco felt this lady had muck not mud on her, perhaps if we walked round behind someone with dog poo on their boots we might think yuk...

We are upmarket here - we go to Waitrose in our wellies, and mucking out clothes and no one says a thing. We did discuss this on the yard and were going to have a post haylage trip to Waitrose tomorrow to see if we can get thrown out. Mind you we have the same as Henryhorn, ripe farmers, smelly horse people and the ones who really cause me problems are those with gallons of perfume on - really makes me sneeze. if they got rid of the ones with wellies and boots they could probably halve their customers. Now getting thrown out of Lidls might be newsworthy - we could try that

The worst smell in our Tescos is the stench from their own fridges and freezers; I don't think they clean the evaporation chambers out often enough and sometimes the warm dirty fridge smell billowing in from the back of the shop is gross. Even if you took the horse in with you, you couldn't compete.

How pathetic. I am glad I'm out of the UK.

When I was there however, I'd often shop in Sainsbury's / Co-Op and Waitrose in my jodh's. It was in Surrey where the split was 50/50 between country folk and chavs.....

Hope this lady gets some compensation. Total twaddle really...!

Bx

In surrey chavs where jodpurs to look cool
frown.gif
they dont care

I get its just health and safety but as horse muck is the safest kinda muck- and it wasnt even on her...i mean their shelves could breed salmonella, ah well

Blooming Tesco's, another good reason not to use them. I find BO, fags and strong perfume far more offensive. I am sure the lady wasnt going to be rifling thorugh the open fruit and veg with her feet!

The biggest risk to health in a supermarket is the supermarkets themselves, poor stock control and staff food hygiene, believe me big does not always mean better. And what about all the folks who may not smell but could be incubating flu virus or D&V - perhaps the security guards should give everyone a medical screnn before they go in. Total twaddle - I am not going to get changed before I go into the supemarket.

I've never seen chavs in surrey wearing jods, only trackies
laugh.gif
And I live there lol.
I've not been kicked out of shops for being too smelly or anything, I often get funny (or sometimes envious from kids) looks but thats it. Me and my Mum went into our local farm shop on the way back from riding and the lady even asked what my pony was like!
But yes, in surrey theres a 50/50 split between chavs and country bumpkins

Theres lots of people who reek of BO and cigarettes who don't get kicked out of shops, seems unfair =/

I visit Tesco in Brigg, Nth Lincolnshire every week in my jods and mud stained wellies. I have never had a problem and notice many others, farmers etc similarly attired. I think it is because this is a rural market town.
I also regularly go into my local One Stop too. After standing behind a man with the most overpowering B.O. the staff sprayed air freshener when he left but had no problem with me!

I always go into tesco stinking in my horse stuff and will now make sure i try to stamp as much mud / other things off my wellies en route.  I agree with others that have replied - there are other worse smells I have come across, plus people that look/ smell like they haven't washed for weeks, not just on their way home for a bath after a session at the stables
