Kasper dropped a bit of condition a couple of weeks ago after a busy week and being on not so great grass.

I've upped his hay and hard feed over the last week and he looks better though people still think he's too thin, but I'm aware that now a days people consider horses to be a good weight when they are in fact over weight and I dont want Kasper to get chubby.

So basically my question is.....

Does Kasper still need more weight? (i dont mean muscle, i mean fat)

Near side - he looks more ribby on this side that the other, why i dont know, and he has naturally very prominent hips

Smidge more for his type and build, I'd say. But I also wouldn't be panicking either; it'll be spring grass in no time............

phew, thanks all. I am personally happy with his weight and am working on more muscle but you know what the little niggles in your head are like when other people comment.

Will keep him on his increased rations though until the better grass comes through, to maintain him at the correct weight.

With his type he could carry a bit more weight and still look fine but to me this is perfect. I prefer my horses "slim" (ie. the right weight) compared to other people. When he gets muscle he will look fab!

ps - Love his colour!

I wish I could get my girl that weight - he looks spot on for this time of year, as the grass comes through he'll soon pork up.
