Does anyone else who works (leaving house 6 .30 , returning 8 pm), just too tired to want to ride when they get the oppertunity?

Yes sometimes and it makes me feel guilty :( Horses have just gone out though as of this weekend so I'm hoping that I'll have more motivation/ energy now I don't have to muck out, do waters, fill nets etc!

Yup. Catch two situation. Need to work to keep horse. But too knackered to ride. Just finished cleaning clients house and have offices to do tonight. It's windy and spitting. Shall be having a cup of tea, instead of tack ing up

Yes- I feel bad about it too, thought of getting a sharer but the fact that my horse has a history of lameness makes me reluctant todo so.

I was always like this when working full-time. I found riding first thing was the best solution for me. Then if I was tired at work later in the day it didn't really matter, better that way than no riding and fat horse!

That's a long day! I leave just after 6.30 and get back home for 5 pm, quick bite to eat then out to ride at about 6 to 6.30pm - few jobs and back in the house for a brew before bed then up again 5.30am to do it all again

Some days I'm tired but I only ride 2 or 3 days midweek and then save long rides or intensive rides for the weekends

I'm having the very same debate with myself, got up 6.30am, horrid day at work, not long been back home, out to do the nags in bit, tea wont be till gone 8pm, think they can have a night off!

I'm the same.

Luckily I have a friend who rides one of my husband's horses who is excellent at motivating me to get me off my backside! In fact, she's so good...I had a lesson Monday morning this week and was out riding one of the other horses in the afternoon! :p

Once I'm in the saddle it's fine, I think it's the thought of getting the tack, fetching the horse up..blah blah blah....

Sometimes. I leave house at 5.30 and get in at 9pm. Long days. Either ride before work and gym after work or vice versa. I give ponio 2 days off during the week. That includes a 30 min drive to yard and an hour commute. Zzzzzz

Yes definately! We are dairy farmers and milk at 3.30am everyday and again at 3 pm. Normal routine is that i "do" the horses around 7.30 am and have a spare hour or so to ride then but of late I am too knackered! We have just done a couple of 16 hour days with tb testing and PD sessions on all 250 cows and although I have the time to ride in the morning I just know I wont feel like it. Did have a fantastic lesson on Monday and felt really positive but in all honesty I know I probably wont ride until Sat now.

This sounds more as though you do not have time to ride. When would you actually fit it in? If you get 8 hours sleep you only leave 2.5 hours per day to get up, showered, dressed, breakfast, ride, cook, eat, chill and go to bed. If you allow 30 minutes to get out of the house in the morning, 30 minutes to cook and eat in the evening, an hour to chill, you get 30 minutes to tack up, ride and untack again. To have time to ride you need to cut back on how long you work, travel or are out of the house for other reasons.

Are you able to adjust your working hours to free up more time either morning or evening so you get more daylight hours to ride in I.e start earlier or later?

For me when I have been lacking energy it has been due to low iron levels. Is your diet good and do you get enough sleep?

I dont work structured long hours but my work often requires me to work long hours (in in the office now and have been since 8.30am). I have someone ride for me twice a week (it sometimes feels crazy that i work hard to have horses (i only have one that i ride) and then pay someone to do my hobby) which eases the pressure but it does sometimes get me down. I want to ride more (i ride on average 3 times a week but hope it will be more now with the lighter days). Its catch 22 - i need the work i do to pay for what i want but i then dont have all the time i would like to do what i want!

If I get up at 5.30 I can ride before work. I dont have to cook at home as my job is to cook 2 meals for a group of elderly people at an Abbeyfield(and to eat the meal with them) . The day is long as I see to horse either side of work. In theory I can also have time off from 2pm till 5pm and could ride, it is just that I am not finished by 2pm most days, and I find I need to sit for half an hour when I do finish, and then of course, change, travell, and maybe also shop.and then be back at work, changed and clean by 5.But will be back to part time from next week.
