...and she was absolutely brilliant!!!!!
Where is the logic in my 4yo thoroughbred being better at hunting than my 11yo ISH?!?! Really?! She was quite shocked to start with, didn't really know what to do at the meet so just stood there with her eyes on stalks! Then everyone moved off, I kept her at the back expecting her to jog/launch herself forward- I couldn't have been more wrong...she just mooched off in walk quite happily!

She was awesome, however didn't really like standing still. She would stand for about 20 seconds, then gets the fidgets and walks backwards/sideways. So I walked her round in a circle as soon as she moved and then asked her to stop, and as soon as she did she got lots of fuss. It did seem to work a bit!
I only stayed out for 1 1/2 hours as just wanted her to experience it. She walked over the scary slippy bridge that lots of horses wouldn't step onto like a pro! And at the end of the morning she turned around and walked away from the whole field like she was on a leisurely hack!

Think a few more outings and she will be really good. She was a bit scared of the hounds though! But she didn't pull and was very stoppable in canter.

Oh and yesterday we went xc schooling and she is a bit "ditchy" so started with the smallest ditch ever and by the end of the sesh she was jumping the biggest ditches there first time

So she is very much in my good books right now, I love her

haha well done! definitey in a few more cubbing meets she will get used to the standing around xx

sounds great but beware the 2nd day

i've often found first day fine as they don't know what it's all about - second day they know what it's about and can often be over excited - then they'll settle again by the 5th or 6th
