Hi everyone, if you have arthritis or other mobility issues could you let me know what tools you use when mucking out/poo picking/ doing general yard jobs?
I have a volunteer group at my community interest company and I'm getting some new people coming who are struggling with using standard tools. They help out with all sorts of yard jobs, including a bit of weeding and tidying up straggly plants, pulling ragwort, mucking out and poo picking, muck spreading etc.

I can apply for some funding but it would be good to know if there's anything that would be really recommended to help. I have googled for gardening tools but that doesn't really help for the mucking out jobs

Thanks

One person I know with arthritis put pipe lagging round the handle of the poop scoop to make it fatter and easier to grip.

Fatter handles are definitely better for arthritic hands. Would a kneeling stool (you can get them for gardening) help reduce bending over, if clearing weeds? If you have any digging type tasks, try azadas (I think I've spelt that right).

I did spell azada right, but the word's used for all kinds of non-gardening things too, if you do an online search for them. They're a kind of gardening tool that are much easier on the back.
