Tassy lost half her tooth yesterday- it literally split into two laterally- really rare apparently so the vet says- tomorrow she is having the rest of it removed. Will this surgery likely to be covered my the insurance campany? (Petplan)

If your horse has full veterinary fees cover (not just injury) then yes, unless there are any specific policy exclusions that would affect it. If you have injury only cover then speak to your vet about wording the report and claim form so that it was an 'injury'. Are you aware that molar tooth removal will probaly be around the £1000 mark? Potentially even more depending on the time the procedure takes.

Oopsie!! Its a doggy!!! Won't be that much!!! Also dunno how dog insrance works but read your policy documents and word your claim accordingly and speak to your vet about doing the same. Hope she's ok!

yeah if you are fully insured....

....be careful of exclusions though - depending on how much the bill is it might be best to pay...... im not sure how the work on teeth but i know with my dog - she only has 1 leg left thats insured lol!

Dental problems are often excluded BUT if this was caused by trauma, then it should be covered. If it was down to unhealthy teeth then it may be excluded. If there is any doubt, your vet will probably be quite happy to call it a trauma injury - just discuss it with them.

£1000! for a 30 min op! bloody eck! how much profit are vets trying to make- the vet said he would be suprised if it wasn't covered. I hope so at a thousand!!!!!

just brought her home- bill was only £200.86 so not too bad at all! Bless her she keeps crying and doesnt have a clue whats going on!

Mine did the same after her tooth op - we took her back for a painkiller injection as she never normally makes a fuss about anything. It did help, but she still cried on and off all night so be pepared to have to dole out some TLC!!!

Poor Tass - she and B need to have a 'Who is the most Accident Prone?' competition :p
I know- we have only had her since Jan but she's had a number of issues- this one appears to have been an old owners fault! Once the tooth was out vet could see the fracture had been there for 2 years and old absesses had been there before- so it was good we took it out. She's still wobbly and away with the faeries bless her!! I cant believe how much this dog has grown on me- Im suprised how strongly attached I am to her already! :)
