Just out of interest what do you pay for teeth rasping with sedation. Mines £45 and £50 for sedation.
I'm in north east and my vet does them by sedation only so that they are done properly. Charges £70 but that price is less if a few on the yard get done and call out charge is split. I know there is someone in the area charging £20 but i simply wouldn't trust someone charging so little- you get what you pay for!
I agree that sedation is not always needed. However, vets seem to do it as a matter of course because it makes it easier for them.
yes I agree they don't always have the time to spend with a fidgety horse but when you know your horses are okay without I don't see why some insist on it
I don't think its easier, I just think I would rather have the horse relaxed than the risk of someone being wacked in the face with a gag.I agree that sedation is not always needed. However, vets seem to do it as a matter of course because it makes it easier for them.

Round here there is one very well known one who isn't qualified. He's always advertising on Facebook. His main selling point seems to be that he's so wonderful he doesn't need power tools and anyone that uses them is somehow inferior! My EDT does use a dremmel type thing, which is gentle and quick. Even my mare who's a drama queen is relaxed and happy being done. He's highly recommended by my vets and I'm happy that he's an expert at what he does. I'd always question why someone can't be bothered do go to the trouble of getting registered? We pay £45 and the EDT does 2 days at our yard. I always sound like a stuck record on these threads but please make sure your EDT is on the BAEDT list and don't listen to any nonsense from those who claim they are not on the list but are fully qualified in another Country.
