Confession: we don't seem to know much about cobs where I live. I knew it was some sort of horse, not often seen competing in, say, Olympic dressage. But Google was my friend, together with Wikipedia, and I have since learnt that a cob is a creature of indeterminate breed, usually "stout", often hairy, and (I am not making this up!) most favoured by riders who are overweight or elderly. I think that's a bit rude, really, but it has slightly whetted my appetite to obtain a cob for myself.
