I followed a trailer today and inside were two horses. There was no partition and the front top door [ above the front ramp] was open.
The horse on the right was tied up very long and was squashing the horse on the left. The horse on the left had its head over the front ramp and round to the left. I worried about the insects hitting it in the eyes and overgrown hedges that were catching it.
Does anyone else carry their horses like this?

No I always keep the front top door closed. I don't like the idea of things going into the horses eyes and also I think it could put extra drag on the trailer (I'm sure someone more technically minded could say if this is right or not). Only ever travel two with a partition. I only travel one now but leave the partition in as I think it gives her more support.

I would never travel with the top door open. As well as running the risk of the horse getting battered by trees and scared by traffic, it must be standing in a blimmin wind tunnel, poor thing!

I also had a pony jump over the breast bar and over the bottom door once, so imagine that happening while moving...

As for travelling without the partition, I'd never do it myself, but knew lots of people that used to when I was little, and nothing ever happened.

I believe there was an insurance company that refused to payout on a horse that damaged its eye while traveling with the top door open.

Also I believe it is illegal to travel two without a partition.
