Hi

Im thinking of changing my feed. I have a very good doer who i feed a basic of hifi and nuts. Tbh it's more of a token gift than anything else. However I was in my local feed merchants and was looking at the Top Spec range. She recommened the balancer to me as all i would then need to do is add a chop to it, if required. I wanted to know what peoples thoughts were on balancers, or should I stick to what im feeding and just add a broad spectrum type suppliment ?????

Balancers are great if you just want to feed them on their own but tbh if I was going to add chop, I would continue with what your are doing and add a supplement.

I asked the same thing a while back but actually the balancer will only provide the same as a supplement (especially one like pink powder as it contains pre/probiotics) but at half the price!

I feed my mare top spec anti-lam and its fantastic she hasn't put on any weight and i know that she is getting all of her vits and mins, i would recommend the stuff to anyone.

My lad gets AntiLam as well -- his condition is very good and his feet are rock solid (no shoes - he's 5 and in moderate work). Very pleased!

I use similar to antilam (Formula 4 feet) and a carrot. That's it.

(of course hay/grazing)

Hi I use Top spec feed balanceer not the anti lam but the senior and the comprehensive and have done for over a year now. All i can say is it is great. It will save you money in the long run as you do not need to feed anything else other than chaff. For medium work. It gives a good natural muscle top line and a great shine on their coats. No need for other supplements unless your horse has aparticular problem not including weight. Go for it!

Thanks Smartie, can you reccommend any ?

Hi,

I am a huge fan of Pink Powder. Its magic in a pot!

I dont however use it all the time as most of the time my pony is either on great grazing or fed the correct amount of feed but last winter after colic, choke and suspected ulcers, I introduced PP and there was an amazing difference in her!

I checked with NAF and it can be fed long term at around 2 scoops per day and if you worm or horse is a little down, you can increase to 3 scoops which acts as a little pick me up. I always have a tub handy now.
