I'm having difficulty keeping weight on my 17hh warmblood. We have really poor turnout this year.

I almost have his diet right and was considering whether to feed Top Spec balancer or Pink Powder.

Any views as to which would be best?

It is difficult to advise which would be the best without knowing the rest of his diet and why you think he needs a balancer.

Top Spec Comprehensive Balancer is much higher in protein than Pink Powder (25% as opposed to 12.9%) - if you already have good protein levels in the diet then you won't need the high protein content of the Top Spec.

Top Spec does contain biotin, which is not present in the Pink Powder, so that would make it a better choice for a horse with hoof problems.

However, if you are already feeding the recommended amount of a proprietary mix or cube, then you shouldn't need a balancer at all!

Iam a massive fan of Pink Powder. When my sister got her TB hunter he was very thin and tucked up. We decided to try it he is a fussy feeder, but he really picked up on it and now even after a days hunting he doesnt tuck up. I fact he looks that good we darnt take him off it!

Ive just put my big WB on Pink powder due to him having a sensitive Tum & it's made a huge differance to him in one week.

I also put my TB who scours slighty in the winter on it & he's not scoured at all since going on the Pink powder & his appitite is brilliant im amazed by it so far!! If it helps the TB hold his weight as well, i will be a huge fan of Pink Powder.

It is a combination of a vit/min supplement with a probiotic - bit like a balancer but with a lower protein content than the main balancers like Top Spec Comprehensive Balancer or Blue Chip Pro.
