Top tip for Grand National 2013...

There was me thinking it was another racing thread. What a brilliant pony, he's got a fantastic little jump. You can't go wrong with a native grey pony. The colour gives them special powers. (not his breeding lol)

Haha duns are always awesome - greys, yellows - they're all speshul :D Hehe I don't do racing threads, I certainly couldn't give tips  thanks :D

This is exactly what we need to counter all those flat-racing pedigrees in NH :D

such a shame he's a gelding or he could have sired some lovely strong boned racers :p

Highland Fling :D:eek::D:eek:

he might take that literally and fling the jockey round the course

Bloody love a highland with that kind of spring in it's jump! People really underestimate them I think. They really can turn a hoof to anything and potentially very well if you've got one with the right attitude. You get a good one like that though and you're in for some mega fun times! I've had 2 who can jump like that and have had so much fun with them.

People do really underestimate them. Lucky you :) My 2 year old fence hops for fun and has stunning form over tiny things, so I reckon I might have another the same in a few years too :D

Sweet pony but it seems as if your saddle is too small for you?

Ah there's always one  It's nothing to do with DH's rather defensive position, ofc. Dafthoss is literally tiny and F's saddle is full on 17" (and he wouldn't take any larger in that style) and he normally has my much larger backside in it. Somehow I think it will do.

Really?

I'm a lot shorter than his owner who the saddle is better suited to admitedly, the blocks arnt in the perfect position for me but its not my saddle and it suits his owner. Apart from the fact its a 17' and I have quite happily ridden ponies in 15' saddles without a problem and my own pony has two 17' saddles which if any thing are a little on the big side for me.

I have got a horrific cling on position but he had literally jumped me off on the previous attempt :o:eek:

Must say thanks to JFTD for letting me take the little dude as he is awesome! :D

I wouldn't have described it as horrific :p It's not ... textbook... but it's not doing anything criminal - pony has his mouth, you have a nice grip on his neckstrap keeping you well in the right place - and you both survived and stayed intact - so I'd say it was pretty successful :p

Haha thanks for taking him round - I'm very jealous I never did the pc thing

I always have to bet on a grey:)

sensible :p

Awww... I love him :D Very jealous of the fact you get to school round Isleham as well!

Random q, but will you be at the Ickworth ODE on your flying natives in May? Just about to send young Reg's entry off :D

I can't find a sched lolo, but let's face it, they aren't going to have a class small enough for me to man up and take him round an unknown course by May :o

I'm such a wuss :o

O stop it now. You're all making me very jealous! I want to go to Ickworth :( Stupid BH! ( I don't mean it obviously!). Do you think I can have Nitty ready in time?! :D :D

If you're going Lolo, let me know when and I'll come and say hi :)

Poor BH - how is he? Is Nitty ok then? If she is, you clearly should :p I will personally come and video it for our... entertainment :p :D

You and your broken horses :(

Starts at 2'6, think it's a really nice course though... I did it on a pony who was prone to dumping me at the first and got all the way round...

Please take nitty :D we will video you :p

I'll join in with the fence post thing- 2'6 might be a bit big for a first bash but you'd easily be able to do it! I managed to get Patrick round, and mum used to walk courses with me going "If you get this far do this...", which is all well and good but not when it's the first fence!

Dafthoss, let us know if you enter and I'll wave :D

Hehe, it's not so much the jumps that worry me, more the likelihood that I will pass out from exhaustion half way round
