i really want to get out and ride, the trouble is im limited as the girls dont got out alot or if they do its in there clicks so im thinking about going it alone !!!
the only trouble is that he has always been in groups or pairs (ex driving horse for nearlly 20 years) so as you can tell when he has to do anything alone hes a bit wimpy !!! where he is a big boy as well i worry about him titing around and if i need to get off hes 17hh but his head is high like 19hh !!!
what things can i do to keep brave and push him on ??

If he never goes out on his own at the moment, I would try walking him out in hand to start with, or get a friend to walk with you to give you both confidence. If you take it slowly, short distances etc he should be ok with time.

thank you,hes ok when i take him to the field alone and we have to go up the road a little to get to the field,if i ride infront hes a bit jumpy and if we see horses in the field he stops and starts calling them,i worry hes gona nap in to the field lol !!

If your horse trusts you, some calm reassurance, stroking his neck, talking to him nicely could help him overcome most things. My mare is really flighty but since she realised I'm a friend and I'm there to help, a couple of pats on the neck help her get past almost anything. And what you said about being braver..even if you are worried, try not to let him know you're worried. If you stay relaxed and don't tense up at every noise, he'll realise there's nothing to worry about. Don't do what I did and just ignore every noise, though..some of them need to be heard lol
Otherwise, what YorksG said sounds good too.

Good luck!

Hmmmm... about taking him out with another horse to start with but then on the ride slowing splitting them up??

My mare hated it when I did this to her the first few times..she kept trying to turn round and run back to the other horse and whinnied her head off..she got used to it eventually. It worked perfectly to actually calm down my friend's gelding however, as he thought he should have been racing the rest of us when we hacked out..she took him off somewhere else and he was a little angel.
You don't know until you try!
