Hi All

I will be getting a trailer soon and wondered if any of you have any top tips for storage boxes/things to take/mirrors for reversing/favourite trailer - trailers you would avoid like the plague anything really.

Best place to get a trailer from in the Bucks area would help too....;-)

Thanks for any help.

Love our wessex, and our stressy / doesn't like to load mare is totally happy in it and travels and loads like a lamb. Great build quality and smooth ride - excellent value for £.
Get a wheel lock for it so it doesn't become someone elses new trailer! We don't have any trailer storage boxes etc, just normal plastic boxes for first aid kit etc which go in the truck, and a jerry can for the water. A plain plasic box for horse stuff costs about 10 times more than a plain plastic box for anything else!!

Rice/Richardson or Wessex...lovely trailers which give a smooth ride.

wouldn't have an Ifor if it was a gift..horrible, bouncy rattly things..

:echo:

I`m another who wouldn`t have an Ifor if you paid me! So many horses I know don`t travel well in them, including my T.B. He throws an absolute fit, climbing the walls etc.........yet put him in a Rice and not a peep out of him. Speaks volumes!

I have a Rice Richardson Supreme Ultra. Fantastic airy, well built trailer and would thoroughly recommend.

We've got an Ifor Williams 510 and have never had a problem with loading or travelling not only our horses but when we've taken friends horses somewhere in it as well. I would happily recommend them to anybody. We have a camera too so can see that the horses are calm and settled, not just guess work.

The biggest thing is to check the floor of whatever you buy. And double check again.

For every 1 that hates an ifor you'll get 10 that love them, but that's personal preference.

I personally don't think you can go wrong with them. They are easy to come by second hand, parts are easy to find and they are robust. As with everything if they are well maintained they will serve you well.

Love my richardson supreme, to compare my 2x17.2 version to the ifor 510, mine is taller, wider but slightly shorter in the head area (that said there's still plenty of room for a 17.1 lanky giraffe necked tb!!!!) also things like the front ramp opening on the correct side for the UK and being able to open the grooms door from the inside are bonuses which make for a more user friendly trailer!!

Ifor's hold their value well too. Love the 510 I use, horses travel well and it looks like new when polished with car shampoo/polish. You can buy bits and bobs for them on EBay for little cost.
