Topping cost query

Hi guys,

Just wondering what the going rate is for topping fields?

Thinking of hiring a quad and flail but wanted a rough estimation of prices people have paid so as not being over charged really.

Any ideas of whether I’d be looking at per acre or per hour?

Theres probably about 5 or 6 acres that need doing to start with.

Any advice greatly appreciated!

Approx £40 per hour is what my OH charges.

I paid £40 a few weeks ago to get 4 acres topped although the farmer was only going to charge me £30! I offered £50 so we settled in middle??

Not sure what my OH charges without looking it up but prices will vary, eg the bigger the job, the less per acre/hour.

All prices will be on the rise, red diesel is double what it was last year.
