Hi all,

My TB has been on Alfa A Oil, Ulsakind and Comprehensive Balancer since October and has wintered fairly well although I feel could do with more weight. In the past month or so I have managed to ask someone to give her a 3rd late night feed and added some oil to each.

I tried the Ulsakind on recommendation but wondered if the Cool Condition cubes and also Cool Balancer may be good option. (I can't recall why I chose the Comp Balancer but it is expensive and horse is in what would be considered light work).

Any help appreciated. She was on Baileys No 4 when I first got her but I changed after summer due to the high starch content.

Not really much help but my tb has been on TopSpec comprehensive balancer and TopSpec cool condition cubes, linseed and just grass chaff this winter and has done really well on it. He also has adlib hay

If you are giving 3 feeds a day do you really need the balancer? I'm assuming the ulcerkind is balanced. I'd just up the quantity of nuts and cut out the balancer

I think most TopSpec compound feeds are not supplemented, as they are designed to be fed alongside one of their balancers?

They also have a higher starch content, info from top spec:

TopSpec UlsaKind is a blended product designed to be fed with a TopSpec balancer or supplement as it does not contain added vitamins or trace-elements. It is however enriched with minerals. The typical analysis of TopSpec UlsaKind is 5.75% oil, 13.5% protein, 20% fibre, DE 12 MJ/kg, 6% starch, 1.2% calcium, 0.4% sodium and 0.5% magnesium.

TopSpec CoolCondition Cubes typically contain 9.5% starch, 3% sugar and 0.4% magnesium. TopSpec UlsaKind typically contains 6.5% starch, 3% sugar and 0.5% magnesium.
