Can anyone reccommend a decent rechargeable torch with a decent beam to shine around field, that lasts more than the five minutes of the do it all style torches dont mind paying a bit for a good torch, we hve lods of tired ones, thanks.

I bought the advanced energeriser head torch from argos for £14.99 - it has 4 modes on and i can see right across the fields with it - its great and horse doesnt seem bothered by the full beam in her face either! It even has red beam option but not sure what use that is!

I'm not too hot on horse vision, but ours don't seem to spook/blink so much at the red light - I'm not sure they can see it?? Very useful for changing rugs on the spooky arab!
We get bog-standard £14 head torches from Scats

Hi,

First post as I am also looking for info on torches to help lead our first horse.

Our livery owner once dried one of her horses with a red lamp (which she used to use on her when a foal) and the horse bolted and broke through the stable. The assumption being that the horse thought that the red was blood.

Whether this is the case or not, it is something that could be considered in case you have any difficulties in the future.

Cheers,
Mark
