Torn over loaner- moving yards. Help :-(

I think as some people have said, the insurance thing has been done to death - there is another thread on it, rather than taking this thread off the point completely.

You know what I think!

I can understand why if its further away and hard for your sharer to get to, her reluctance, however its your horse and tough tits

tbh there are plenty of good people out there who would take your arm off for a share, and okay you dont want to upset her, but hey this is life she either comes with you or stays put :)

just a quickie, is there not anything in between the old yard and new yard, if there is one and its a bit more pricey and she is prepared to cover the extra costs, but is in hacking distance of old yard (so can still meet up with friends etc) would this be a possibility ?

If the sharer is doing 6 days a week anyway, why dont you offer the horse to her on full loan, and then she can take on all costs and keep him at current yard?

I actually offered her this but she stated she could not afford to pay for the full costs of a horse.

I have looked at this and there is a yard actually thats within hacking distance, it still means im 35 mins away but it would mean she could get to keep him within a distance she can meet up with her friends. Currently its full but im on the waiting list, it would be more expensive than the current yard which she wasnt happy about but tbh im running out of options to please us both :-(

I guess it depends how much you need a sharer for your horse...

It isn't always that easy to find someone that you trust enough to do your horse 6 days a week & although your not at uni now you need to think about what happens if you go back to uni and haven't found one.

I know people who have been looking for sharers for over six months & still not found one. 6 days a week is a big commitment for a sharer.

I can see why she may not move if it is longer traveling time for her.

I can also see why you want to move and if you can take on your horse full time for as long as necessary (ie even when you are at uni) then moving is the better option by the sound of it.

Your horse, not hers. She is not willing tot ake on the financial burden so she removes herself from the discussion imo

The yard is a farm with a make shift yard- the farmers aren't interested in insurance or really anything that happens on the yard tbh.

I will be back in uni after summer yes so will need another sharer then :-/

Isn't the horse insured for third party? It's madness for a yard to not be insured as you could sue them and they are liable. I have to take out third party insurance for up to £10 million in order to run my yard. It covers my own horses and the liveries for third party damage caused by the horses in my care. But I aso insist that all horses on livey are insured.

Regarding sharers though, it is hard to find a really good one. I wuld be inclined to stay there TBH.

Yes my horse insured to the hilt- but the persons horse who kicked my car wasnt insured at all and nor is the yard.

The person who's horse kicked my car doesn't have horse insurance-

That doesn't mean that they are not liable..I'd take legal advice and sue!

I can't believe that you're being treated like this when you're the victim after all.
Sorry but you're loaner sounds awful, I'd find a new one.
