Torn toe ligaments...

So today Daisy had a general anaesthetic to have a wart removed from her chin and, whilst under, had her foot xrayed. Turns out she has torn a ligament in her front index toe (I'm assuming from the bone as he said there are some bone fragments) :(:(:( The vet thinks that, as it's stable, it will heal in 3 - 4 months with rest but I've made the classic mistake of googling, most of which suggests they don't really heal...so three questions...
1. Has anyone got any positive stories of dogs returning to full 'work' (i.e. canicross, multiday hiking) successfully after just rest?
2. Has anyone got any suggestions to entertain a very fit (we were due to run a half marathon in three weeks ) dog who is only allowed two, on lead, 10 minute walks a day?
3. Can anyone recommend a physiotherapist in Gloucester who will put together a rehab programme for us? The vet was seriously unhelpful on this front (though I will be grilling him again when I go to pick her up at 1500)

Thanks
V

Picture of her sulking in the sun yesterday because we wouldn't throw the ball

Sarah Price Physiotherapist is excellent, she has treated my horses in the past but does mainly dog work now I believe - as and when Marty greyhound needs treatment he will be going to her. Sarah is just on the welsh border but does cover Gloucestershire

In terms of the exercise question I’m thinking lots of mental stimulation through ‘mind training’ would be the way ahead? Others on the forum know far more about that than me however

Hannah Ashton at Cotswold Horse and Hound Physio has been treating our Labrador for eight years.....she’s brilliant.

No help or advice but what a PITA. :-( Poor Daisy.
As for keeping her occupied, there is a page on FB I have never looked at but heard mentioned, about training and brain work for cage resting dogs. Someone on here may know of the actual site?

Pretty much, main annoyance is that she isn't lame at all unless she lands on her paw in just the wrong way (i.e. only noticed an issue during play) but in order to get it to heal properly it's completely restricted exercise :(

Looking particularly pathetic after her general yesterday

Is it total rest for 3 -4 months? Blimey!
Would it not be easier to amputate the toe? Unless it is very high up?

Not complete rest, 10 minutes on lead for next two weeks then building it up by 5 minutes a week until some undisclosed point in the future (going to get in touch with a physio to get a better rehab programme once her chin is healed)
