My friend has one and she loves it. I was going to borrow it to try on my horse today but I've hurt my shoulder so can't ride. Has anyone on here got one and what do you think? I am not sure if they are really suitable for high withered horses like mine?

hi - I do not have a torsion but I do have a barefoot cheyenne which I love. It can be a problem fitting any treeless saddle to very high withered horses, but I would advise you to contact torsion (if that is the brand you are interested in) as they will be able to advise you further - you can get pommel inserts for wider flatter backs and for higher withers, so you may be ok

I have tried a Torsion but didnt like the pommel which has wood in it. Found it very uncomfortable. I have recently bought a Heather Moffat Fhoenix though which is fab!

Thank you Daphnelia. I will contact Torsion for advice and I will also investigate other saddles too gladelpone. I am only thinking about Torsion because my friend has one and she is so pleased with it. I don't know much about treeless saddles to be honest but I like the idea of them.

I have a Torsion deluxe that I find to be very comfortable on my chunky cob, they are very well made and well worth paying the extra money for. I have found with some of the cheaper copies of the Torsion that build quality is an issue, I have recently put the stirrup ring back into one cheap treeless saddle that was only held by a piece of thin mineral tanned suede that had simply ripped out with normal use. as for using on a high withered horse, there should be no probles if you use the correct pad as I have riden an Irish Draught with very high withers in a Torsion and still had clearance.

I had a torsion for my pony. Lovely comfy saddles but did have to pick a numnah carefully to stop it putting too much pressure on the wither. It put me in a great position for jumping and fast work but didn't suit me for flatwork.
I took the wooden pommel block out and filled the front with a rolled up tea towel (I had it checked by a professional to be sure wouldn't cause any problems) and it sat much better on her.
