Im puzzled as to why my pony tosses his head around and around and around. He normaly does it in the summer which is understandable with the flies but i was riding him in the arena tonight and he kept tossing his head around. i sometimes have a martinagle on which does help a bit but i normally dont bother if im just doing flat work in the school.
anyway getting to the point... why does he toss his head? any ideas?

My mare does it when she's ready for the dentist..is he due for a visit?

Also, she sometimes just does it a bit when she's giddy, to try & put me off - not that it works, so I don't know why she carries on.

Allergies can cause it but at this time of year I would have thought they would be minimal, perhaps check his ears for irritation?

Worst case scenario, potential back problem, but I think he'd be giving you some bigger clues if that was the case..

Mine used to do abit of head tossing due to having painful neck and shoulders, so would object to working in an outline. Have Mctimmoney lady out and she's loads better don't think she has done the head tossing since :)
