Today, I was riding in the school and as I was coming down the long side, a big gust of wind blew up and threw a load of haylage in the air (It's stacked near the school...) anyway this blew in my pony's face and he spooked (only slightly) across the school... I somehow kind of dismounted (Unscheduled) (Kind of a reverse getting on so that I was stood with my left foot in the stirrup facing his bum... So I just got back on... THought I'd got away with it when I saw our neighbour and our livery (Who'd been on a hack) P* ssing themselves at the gate...

somehow I think I'm not going to hear the end of this for some time... Not sure what has happened to my 'glue' lately but I think I need a new batch!!

This is brilliant, you have written it so well, and I can so imagine it!

So nice to know these things happen to other people too :-)

I've done that on one of the horses at work on the gallops, but for some reason whilst I was stood there I made the decision to hop off. I don't know why because if I'd just swung my leg back over I'd have been fine, horse was standing still, but my brain obviously decided it would be best to get off :p

Didn't even get on the (13.3hh) Little Cob once. Got half way up, then sort of stopped, fell backwards, twisted round, ended up on my back, foot still in stirrup, my head under his, whilst both him and D1 laughed their bloody socks off.

Couldn't ride my motorbike for two weeks. Had to take the train and taxi everywhere. People asking me if I'd fallen off... what could I say?! Ended up telling them I'd twisted it stepping down off a kerb :o:D:D

Oh I've been totally embarrassed by a horse - however it was more me than her :p

I was working at a professional SJ yard at the time and always saw the rider getting on his horses from the mounting block but without putting his foot in the stirrup, so just kind of hopped on lightly.

Thinking I would be really cool in my next jumping lesson I tried to copy his elgant style...I missed completely and ended up looking at the mare's belly - thought it's ok, noone is watching...till I heard all my friends laughing :o
