So my trainer has returned from his two week break having left me with strict instructions and a training plan for Vaard the Paard.
Yesterday he was sulking because I worked the beast and he missed it (trainer not the horse) so asked if I could be at yard today at 4pm so he could "see how we were working together" before I got my next set of instructions and training plan (trainer is due to have an op tomorrow so will be out of action for 3 weeks).
Dully turned up and it was blowing a gale and horses had been in all day due to torrents of rain and storms so Vaard was how can I put this WANTING TO GO FAST and SPOOKY!
Took him into the school and attached double lines and proceeded to work him in (minor amount of sand surfing!) then worked him up and down the transitions, big and small circles, changing of tempo in each gait and who from all gaits....reaction silence....after 30 minutes I could stand it no longer halted the beast and Said "so how are we doing then?" his reaction "very good I have taught you both well"
Then proceeded to show me how to link together circles and straight lines in all gaits.
Finished off by saying "if you can keep him working like this you will be doing really well"
Feeling very proud of me and my beast tonight
