What does it mean when your horse stands with front feet slightly behind his shoulders? Opposite of how laminitics stand? Horse is sound but has had many health issues.

It could be any number of reasons from a body pain stand point - front or back end.

If the vet has cleared him - have you considered getting a good body worker to give him the once over?

I'm assuming he's not standing like this ;)

I found that my horse had some thrush in the central sulcas of his heels which once I treated really helped. His heels were obviously tender so he was trying to take the weight off and looked like an elephant balancing on a ball.

Could be heel pain, mine was standing with his feet behind the shoulder, he has navicular, he was standing like that to relive the pain, the same as a laminitic. Any other symptoms?

What's the story behind that black horse?

My horse stands funny when he has colic. The horse in the photo is lifting his tail so maybe he is full of gas and if you look at the floor it is at a funny angle, so maybe he looks more dramatic than normal. Just a guess!
