Totilas' boy Tolegro

Well I'm still in a huff that 'Hackney' trot was used as a derogatory term :mad:, some of us think it should be what everyone wants....

I think it is absolutely gorgeous on a Hackney :) And if the back legs match.

Haha very true, will never understand this trend for flashy all front dressage horses! What happened to the hind leg being more important for the power and ability to sit? Then again what do I know I have two carriage horses I'm trying to do dressage with :D.
 
To be fair KWPNs can have a high percentage of hackney blood from the harness horses lines. *ownerofaDutchharnesshorse*

Shhh or everyone will know our secret ;) :D.

After getting Topaz it opened my eyes to what really went into a lot of the warmbloods out there today. By an amazing coincidence Topaz came from the same breeder that Steph Croxford has bought some of her horses from, so hopefully our dressage hopes aren't too out there!
 
Has anyone noticed how cleverly named this horse is with the inference to Valegro.

I see a weak over worked baby with his chin on his chest and trying so hard to do his best. He must have a golden temperament to put up with all this plus stud duties at only 5 years of age.

Puts my joy of watching my rising 5 year scoring 70% in a walk and trot test in the realms of ridiculous.
 
This fails to excite or inspire me. The horse is as other described,hackneyed, and not moving with much natural feeling. Seems very manufactured. I would not send a mare to this stallion.
I'm no expert though. Just my impressions. I don't get the wow factor.

I had almost forgotten how much I enjoyed watching Finotini. Now there's a horse I'd happily have.
 
Tortilas did nothing for me, what he produces does nothing for me.

These young immature horses are worked far too hard too soon and in some cases, the use of Rolkur which angers me beyond belief.

I know a dressage rider who rides, breeds, and sells. She breeds good horses, but her riding ability and the agression in which she trains disgusts me. Too much too soon too young.

I always feel like alot of dressage producers just don't put the horse first. Ride it into the ground, don't hack, don't turn out, nothing. Tortilas for example has never been turned out to my knowledge, certainly not when he was with Edward Gal.
 
Fiontini is my preference out of the three-Fiontinas neck and thick gullet do nothing for me although I do realise I am being rediculously fussy here, Fifty fifty is eye catching and lovely he just lacks some power and strength compared to the mares at the time of the videos-may all be different now

So so sad. What a life for these "stars" who have no idea why they even are.

Love the way CH and our British dressage masters treat our horses... at least they are allowed to be so.
 
I really wonder if horse breeding is going down the same route as dog breeding and showing. Too many horses bred for movement rather than longevity and soundness. This combined with hot house producing must eventually break the poor horses. Totilas is a case in point. Apparently his soundness was debatable years ago.

I have been wondering if I was the only person who noticed the name. I'm not into dressage enough to know anything much but thought it a bizarre name even with the little I do know!
 
Like fifty fifty and fiontini out of the 3 listed on the last page.

Didnt like fiontina, huge weird neck and his walk wasnt anything brilliant, almost looked slightly lame for a couple of steps at the very start when Charlotte got on but he definitely wasnt, just his movement was odd. I did love Fiontini's trot though and fifty fifty's.

Sigh, wish my boy would magically get muscle like them. He can almost trot like that, but thats only when I free school him. I got him to do it once last year when riding him, but then I let him have time off and thanks to weather etc, he's had 3 months off so back to square one. :( Hate how easy Charlotte makes it look riding that kind of movement, I almost fall off when I ask mine to extend a bit.

Fiontini and Fiontina are both mares, full sisters bred by embryo transfer. It's interesting to see how different they are.
I personally prefer Fiontini. But I think it's not a fair comparison to the Tolegro video, waiting for a video of Tolegro ridden by Charlotte Dujardin, she is an exceptional rider. :)

Yeah it would be good to see that. Hate these people at times, they make everything look so easy.

For what it's worth this is incorrect. Gal has said that they tried turning Totilas out repeatedly and he became so distressed he was in danger of hurting himself. While my horses live out 24/7 I know enough to realize that some horses have not read the book on how they are expected to behave.
