Mitch had a Tuffie squashed into his crate until yesterday, but he’s just too tall, so needed something thinner but equally tough, otherwise this is the result:

Other than carpet nailed to a piece of MDF like ultra destructive Jake had, can anyone recommend a very tough bed? TIA.

I tie a fleece blanket taught to the corners. If the dog chooses to destroy an expensive/filled bed, it does not get one, or it gets removed when the dog cannot be supervised.

We went the other way. Hector destroyed tough beds. However, the soft comforter, furry dough-nut ones, he loves and simply settles in. They are flimsy, one bite would kill it. Yet, he simply sinks in and snuggles up.

Haha, our doughnut one worked well for a while but then let him alone with it for ten minutes when I had the vacuum on upstairs and he ripped it open. ? I sewed up up, and last week he did it again ????
I do have an old bed that was from pets at home, it's a tough woven material and that is more or less still intact!

Mine loved the doughnut bed and left it alone for months, which shocked me, but attacked it one night when I was sorting the boys and I'd left the kitchen door open and she could see the comings and goings. Once it's repaired, she can have it at night and when I'm in/settled, not at times when she wants to take her frustration out on something soft and fluffy because I'm paying attention to someone else.

I bought West Paw Big Sky nap mats for my dogs when they were all young dogs and they have lasted forever. I see they are available on Amazon UK but are outrageously expensive, perhaps there is a UK based company that makes something similar that isn't so eye wateringly expensive.

Bigger crate/purpose built crate ?

I think the crate is the right size, just if you know Tuffies, they’re very thick, so raise him too him, although he’s not hitting the roof of the crate. I just want something flatter and shorter, the Tuffie didn't quite fit. I was looking at this earlier, but I’m not sure it’s ‘indestructible’.https://www.amazon.co.uk/Maximum-Pe...43dbf4dfb926fd68769b4fd09&language=en_GB&th=1

I might see if I can find a smaller Tuffie, he hasn’t even tried to chew it.

Luckily, that was a couple of old crate mats, nothing I’d cry over. I’m not sure a fleece blanket is padded enough, I was hoping he could have a bit of padding.

The woven style would be useful, but couldn’t find anything In Pets at Home or the big pet store we went to yesterday. There are smaller Tuffies available, but it’s the height that needs reducing more than anything.

Ours love their Tuffies, we have the mattress and the nest styles. Its surprising how much room they need when they fully stretch out, even small dogs. Tuffie's are so comfortable and supportive, maybe he was trying to tell you something ! That's why I suggested a bigger crate so that the Tuffie would fit in it.

It’s another idea, for sure. They are both very long at full stretch. He hasn’t attempted to chew the Tuffie and it is very padded and comfy. I’ll have a look, I’m not sure they go much taller, although I noticed PF has Henry in a very roomy one.
