Oh dear. Danny has just torn the head off his fluffy pheasant (which cost me a lot of money

) and thus is now soft toy-less. I bought him a rag bone but he doesn't really like it because when he shakes it it thumps his sides.

So I need to find a good, strong soft cuddly (preferably without a squeaker) that will stand up to a very boistrous lurcher at play. Try typing 'tough dog toy' into google and all it comes up with is kongs and plastic stuff. I found a really good prospect - a cuddly dragon designed to last - only to find it's american. I really don't want to order from overseas, the last time I ordered a cuddly from there customs took it apart :(

Any ideas? I don't mind paying if it means it'll last and I won't have to buy a new one every week.

Fat Cat stuff is nearly indestructible - http://www.shopfatcat.com/instyadogtoy.html - the link is for a US site with all of the products on but if you google a product name UK suppliers will come up.

We have the 'yankers' trout and the ballistic tug-and-toss and both are still in one piece. :D The water bottle cruncher didn't last quite so long but she did get quite enthusiastic about the noise, glad really as it was doing my nut in...

Just bought Chlo a Kong Braided Giraffe (they do zebras as well =] haha) and its withstood her mad attacks so far! About £9 but great as it has no stuffing and is extremely hard to rip. Not sure how "soft" they are though, not if you want a great big fluffy cuddly thing anyway. Google it! xxxx

Unfortunately despite the name, Yankers don't survive two cattle dogs on a mission, but neither do tough toys, plastic bottles, horse jolley balls it's a growing list!:(

Was also going to recommend fat cat stuff, very strong, my lot have some of their toys that they have had for years unscathed!
I have just had info through about new kong products soon to be released, including some soft stuff...you may find a supplier now if you are lucky. However I've not trialed them yet so cant recommend or not!

ets..the kong snuggle wubba is soft and fairly tough.

Sorry edit again..the new kong products to look out for are the kong wubba 'friends', and the kong braidz...the kong pet stix also look pretty cool and tough IMO.

We have some Bamboo dog toys, the bone tug & lil man and they are quite tough, the lil man takes a lot to squeek and the only time i've heard it is when i've stood on it. I wouldn't say my dogs are rough players, but all the soft dog toys we bought from pet shop were swiftly killed in 5 mins flat, yet strangely the Ikea kids toys are still going strong.

Ooh, looks like a trip to pets at home might be called for, shall have to try out those Fat Cat ones, they sound cool. And if I can't find any of those then I might give the Bamboo ones a try. Danny has destroyed toys from the pet shop, the charity shop and my childhood (the ones that always scared me and yet never got thrown away thankfully). Hopefully with the recommendations, the next toy he gets will last a lot longer XD

Thanks :D:D:D

Edit: Actually, those Kong snuggle wubbas look good too, will have to see how heavy and solid the thick end is though as he doesn't like things hitting his sides.

Puppy has more or less killed the wubba- but the 17p teatowel with a knot tied in it lives on! Note to self- stop spending money on dog toys!
