My sharer has just let me know that Beau just been getting his tounge over his bit - even with the drop done up. So she has ridden him in the normal noseband and the loose ring bit.

I don't mind that bit. But he has never tried that with me, and was a saint on Thursday in our lesson. He mouths the bit a lot though - which TBH I prefer as I've always been told its good.

I am wondering if he has munched something that has hurt his mouth as there is about on 40% grass in the field, adn he already has a big cut on his face from the field - a few have cuts so we think they are trying to get at the grass outside or into the storage container that is in there.

my cob mare used to get her tongue over the bit only when i schooled her, perhaps your sharer schools her different to you or has heavier hands. To solve this problem i put her in a snaffle with a port, hey presto smooth schooling and no more tongue over

Well Im using a french link Hanging cheek snaffle, which he plays with, but protests to less. The loose ring snaffle seems to be ok for him to, but if he gets a jab the head shoots up - understandably.

She does have a tendancy to pull him in more as she has a damaged shoulder - hense why I put him in the hanging cheek and the drop as he was very sharp at stopping etc in it

he could have hurt the roof of his mouth in some way? my pony started putting his tongue over the bit as he has a small mouth and the single joint of the snaffle was sitting high and hurting him, hence he was more comfortable with the joint covered by his tongue!!

maybe the other sharer had the bit too low in his mouth? my pony gets his tongue over with a hanging cheek when it is too low (my bridle doesn't have enough holes!) because he doesn't have much pressure on his mouth, more on the poll. but never with a normal snaffle.

one of mine used to get his tounge over the bit a lot in just a jointed snaffle so we swaped to a Myler and now he is fine as he has room for his tounge. He seems happy with working now.
