Tow Car Recommendations

Hello!
Me and my partner are looking to buy a car for me to be able to tow with towards the end of the year. I want something that is of course safe and suitable but not massive (basically I dont want a pickup as it scares me how long they are already. Add a trailer and nope )
Will be towing an 505 ifor and will be a small TB so around 500kg.
Must be 2018 or newer. We did like the looks of the Volvo XC60s or XC90s but it looks like the newer ones have smaller engines?
Open to all recommendations that I can show my partner so we can make the best decision for out budget!

I will mostly be eventing (aiming to do BE once the horse is ready) so probably will be towing on grass?

I loved our Passatt and our Toureg for towing. Both very powerful cars and towed really well. Both 4WD. Nice to drive as cars too. I upgraded to the Toureg when I wanted living in the trailer. And I had 2 to tow. Bear in mind if you have extra capacity you can take a friend to hack together, or compete together, which is nice too. Picked up the Toureg for 9k and sold it for 9k a year later when I bought a lorry.

If you go for a new car I can recommend a Mazda CX60 Deisel mild hybrid. I have not done lots of towing on grass but it has coped with what I have done. The basic model has the better wheels and tyres for off road use as the the upgraded models have low profile tyres.

Several friends have new (2018+) XC60 or XC90's to tow one with and love them.
