Right bought a 4x4 last week, had towbar fitted to it yesterday. Mate at yard is gonna give me a towing lesson tonight. (Am terrified!)

Are towbars supposed to be greased?

I thought they were (seeing as I usually get covered it when unloading my stuff after hitching a lift with someone to show etc)

Also -apart from Halfords- where else can i buy "L" plates from? (for trailer - will magnectic work or do I need tie on?)

yep you will need to grease it, and get a little cover thing to stop the grease wearing off (and onto your nice cream jods)

Most garages stock L plates, test your trailer with a with a fridge magnet to see if you can use the magnetic ones.

Have a look at this website for lots of good advice & tips on checks you should do and wot not.

If you're nervous now, just wait till you have your pride and joy munching hay in your rear view mirror.
