towel chewing

Can someone please enlighten me why my jrt seems to like chewing the corners of clean flannels and towels.
Its costing me a fortune to replace them.
Can it be boredom?

Depends...is she scrunching them between her legs and suckiling and chewing or just walking by a hanging towel and chewing on it?

Is she alone, in a relaxed state or playing? and how old is she?

she was doing the first bit, and she did it in the same room as me, and wasn't alone. Just feel she really has some issues.
She is 5 years old and a rescue. Have owned her for 4 years now and she never used to be like this.

Id she is chewing and suckling, thats not uncommon, it's the same prodding and suckling that they shared with their mother.....sometimes people say it's because they where removed from the mother to young, or not weaned adequately, some say it's a when they feel content, two of my animals have done this, my cat, who was hand reared and OH's old lurcher, who is no longer with us, he was removed from his mother at 4 weeks.

Sam...Spotty does this. He suckles on his. I say its like he's sucking his thumb. Its usually when theres alot going on as if he's a bit unnerved. He definitely had a traumatic start to life but has been with me 9 yrs and always been the same. You know him...he's generally a confident dog but definitely has moments of insecurity which is when he seems to do it.

Does it tie in with her gripey tummy episodes?..

No it doesn't, its usually when no ones around to see her or like the other night when I was on here and she was on sofa behind me

Well only 2 days now before I see behaviouralist, for the dog that is, not me
