Not a good start for me as I arrived a bit later than I'd meant to and so missed Cruz's round in the Intro. She was going really well it seems - didn't touch a jump but was wide-eyed at all the banners and strange looking jumps. Then she had a stop at the wall but cleared it easily at the second attempt. She ended up with 4 faults + 18 time. I took a couple of pictures of her in the lorry park after her saddle had been taken off and Rosie had started taking her plaits out.
Then we had a break as Rosie had none in the PN but 3 in the Novice.
Connie was horrified by the whole thing - she's getting the hang of this SJ lark but had never seen such weird looking jumps before, had a bit of a panic attack and had several down and at least one stop.
Lottie was great but had (I think) one down in each phase and Bertie made a bit of a hash of it too. To be honest, there was carnage out there today - stops, eliminations, falls - there was only one DC in the Novice - but Lottie came 5th and Bertie 6th.
Bertie went round the Open but had his first ever stop and I think some more as well but he came 6th. Oh and the style marks looked pretty dire too but I don't know what everybody else got tbh. It sounds as if we had a terrible day but all four went pretty well although nobody we talked to could really work out what the relationship is between JAS and eventing. They were pleased to go home with 3 rosettes, some money and invites to the final for 2 of them though. Sorry to be so vague about exactly what happened (I'll have to wait for the results to go up) but it's been a long day!
A couple of pics of the jumps - which are on their way to Hoplands for tomorrow by the way - that caused most of the problems - . Sorry the one of Bertie is so fuzzy but I'm even worse at taking stills than movies
Sorry it's so long and muddled - large glass of wine if you got this far (well that's what I'm going to do next)
