Rosie is taking all her horses to Towerlands tomorrow to do various classes and I'm going to watch in the morning - anyone else going?
When my daughter rang BSJA to get membership details for the newly joined ones (nothing had arrived in the post needless to say) she asked about Lottie and Connie's winnings because she'd lost track a bit - as you do. Anyway, it turns out that both have won too much to try for their respective 4th DCs (BN/disco level or maybe both). So she's a bit p***ed off. She admits it's her fault for losing track but says the rules are now too complicated. Rosie has been doing aff SJ for years and for years Karen has had no problem but it seems that Connie and Lottie were at the same venue in classes which appeared to be the same standard. Both were placed (or won, can't remember what she said) but one of them won £40 and the other £1. She can't understand what's going on or keep track of the changes and she says the rule book is a good 2 inches thick.
Does anyone else get confused? If only the BSJA would keep their website up to date with results .......

Sorry for the moan but she was pretty fed-up and I promised to have a rant on her behalf.

I've just had a look at the on-line rules and hadn't realised that it had got so complicated (I don't go BSJA that often and never seem to win anything at Newcomers). I'm not sure where the £40 came from but you can do 1.0m as an Intro, Amateur, Discovery and Open. If you jump double clear and win the class the notional prize money is £1, £10, £20 & £30 respectively ! I guess the only way of keeping track is to keep a note of all placings and refer to the rule book for the class.

It is difficult to keep track but she can log onto the BSJA site and see winnings etc there. They can be up to 3 or weeks behind but it does give a good indication of where the horses are.

You also now only get notional winnings if the horse jumps DC, doesn't count in opens.

I don't think the BSJA really understand the amateur prize money as my horse has won a few of those classes and got different prize money every time

Yes, she does try to log on to the site but has problems with that too. It doesn't seem as if BSJA do understand it to be honest so what hope is there for us mere mortals

Yes - Cruz is going but not sure what classes. I think they're getting on fine together and she's being a good girl - will report back after tomorrow. Good luck for Saturday
