Towing 510 / 511

Hi guys. Hope you can help as I’m going round in circles.

I’m looking at buying a 510 for two horses with a max combined weight of 1300kg. Due to a limited budget of around 7k and not wanting to spend loads on tax every year I have been looking at the L200 with a max tow of 2700kg. Can I do this? Or do I have to go up to 3000kg tow capacity?
I’ve never towed before... test coming up!

I’m wanting to avoid Land Rover ( bad,bad experiences) Nissan’s, jeeps and the SsangYong. My mechanic has thanked me for technically paying for his summer holidays with my repair bills and will sack me as a customer if I get any of those. ( totally tongue in cheek!)

510 weighs 1000kg so you be up to 2300kg with both horses thus leaving you with 400kg for hay... I think you’ll be okay.

As long as the actual weight being towed behind the vehicle is not above the max towing capacity for the vehicle and/or the max weight allowed on the trailer plate then it is legal

Yes you’ll be fine.
I happily towed this with my Nissan Terrano, Jeep Cherokee and Ssangyong Rexton !!
