Hi all
Anyone who is genuinely knowledgable about this?

I have an Audi A4 estate, 1.9 s-line. Would this be cabable, and more importantly, safe, towing a trailer and 15h welsh cob? (plus all the usual gubbins)

This is my current car and I am trying to weigh up my options for towing. The fuel economy is not too bad and so idealy I would like to keep this as it is my day-to-day vehicle, but I would also like to be able to tow.

Any advice would be greatefully recieved.

Many thanks

max tow for a4s is 750kg, so i imagine by the time you've hitched up your trailer, put horse, hay and all that, you would be significantly over

I towed an Ifor 505 with my 16hh TB with the A4 1.9D avant from Cheshire to Northampton. It was ok on the main roads and motorway but a bit underpowered in hills and I would not like to tow off the road with one as it would definitely not have handled mud.

http://carleasingmadesimple.com/business-car-leasing/audi/a4/towing-weight-limit/ - which one is it in that list?

From what I see it seems that the lowest towing capacity is 1900 kgs so if you have a B+E driving licence and the trailer is say 900 and the horse is say 500 then that's 1400 so the vehicle should easily cope with it on hard ground - unless its a 4x4 type

I would not risk it. It is not about being able to pull, any car can pull, it's about being able to stop in an emergency. The car must be heavy enough and powerful enough to stop and not be pushed forward by the trailer.

That's what trailer over-run brakes are for
