Hi I have a Nissan Pathfinder and a equi-trek Space Traka L (which I love). I have recently bought the pathfinder and am finding it juddery to tow the space treka with - does anyone else have any problems with this?? I used to have a Nissan Navara and it towed brilliantly. We have altered tow bar height but its not made any difference. Any ideas/suggestions or experiences would be appreciated!

Just checked, a pathfinder, according to Web, no matter what year apparently, can tow 6000lbs, aka 2721.5kg

Your equi trek, if I have the right one should have max gross weight of 2600kgs.

Maybe check tyre balancing on trailer and car?

Sorry I'm not much help.

Sounds like a vehicle problem not the trailer esp if you towed it with something else without a problem the pathfinder is basicly a navara with an estate body!! take it to the dealer if its under waranty it could be anything from a faulty driveshaft , suspension or axle bushes or maybe tyres hope you get it sorted ....

Had the same thing with the space trekker L, my ifor is much much smoother to tow. You can get a stabilizer bar fitted, that should reduce pitching. If trailer hasn't been recently serviced get that done :)

When my 90 juddered when towing I got it checked out and the propshaft was on it's way out. I'm not saying it's the case with yours but I would get your vehicle checked :)

I would definately say it is a vehicle issue. I have the spacetreka L and tow with a shogun easily which tows 2.8 tonne. I find it really smooth and balanced and a lot less bouncy and noisy than an Ifor. I did have an issue once when I brought my first 4 wheel drive and the tow bar was not at the right height, which meant the trailers braking system didnt work when I braked, effectively meaning when you went down hill the trailer was pushing the car, very scarey !! Check the vehicle first !!

We had this happen - it actually turned out to be the horse that was causing it by trying to run the Grand National whilst travelling!

I've heard some horror stories on weight though...When we bought my Grandaughter's pony he arrived and had numerous issues of which are all sorted. He is the world's best loader which turned out to be amazing as a year before we bought him his owner had been travelling him in a 3 horse Rice trailer that had him (15hh connie) a 16 hh tb and a 15.2hh ISH but had been towing it with a Golf  Not sure how the poor car pulled it but the end of the story was that slamming the brakes on going down hill had no effect as the trailer just carried on and ended up rolling... amazingly nothing (animal/human) was damaged and all 3 still load brilliantly!

I would say vehicle as well. We had the big Equitrek and towed that with a Landcruiser Amazon with a 17.1 and a 16 hand on it and went miles every weekend and it was fantastic. So smooth and the horses were really chilled out. Auntie has the smaller one and tows it with a Discovery and again never any problems. Does it do this when empty as well as when horse is on? Would it be worth taking a mechanic out in the vehicle to show him what it is doing?
